Whenever you think about beach cottage decorating, nautical decorating, coastal home decor, beach decor, coastal design, coastal crafts or coastal style, think color, color, COLOR! Why am I so excited? Well, have you ever been to the Caribbean? The tropical sunshine makes everything a gazillion times brighter. Greens are greener, blues are bluer and the colorful houses and buildings take beach cottage decorating, coastal home decor, nautical decorating (and all of the above) to an all new level of decorating! The interiors are also just as colorful as the exteriors!
I know what some of you are thinking: "That's all good and well in the Caribbean but I can't do that where I live!" Of course you can! (Not the colorful exteriors though!) In future posts, I'll show you how you can take beach cottage decorating to the outside of your home (without incurring the wrath of your neighbors!) However, right now, lets take a look at beach cottage decorating and Caribbean coastal home decor.

Did these beach decors and coastal home decors have a soothing and calming effect on you? Well they're supposed to! That effect was created primarily through the use of colors. When I first looked at these coastal home decors, I wanted to kick my shoes off and let all my worries slip away. If you want to create a similar effect at home think of using the softer shades of colors. However, if you want your home to look as vibrant as those in the Caribbean, then use the brighter shades of colors.
